Bedtime Stories

Since 1993, I have had the opportunity to bring to our radio audience short stories that inspire, inflame, provide moral education, teach self discipline, honesty, loyalty, faith, and some are just downright funny. I have attempted many times to chronologically layout these stories in a fashion that would be easy to sort through, maybe even publish. Instead I decided to bring these stories to you through the magic of the Web. All of these stories except for a few (very few) were sent to me by others who wished to provide the same guidance that we as youngsters were provided by our parents. I added this category in honor of all parents who read to their children.

On a Continental Flight, with a very “senior” flight attendant crew, the pilot said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance...

A DEVILISH PERSPECTIVE

November 17, 2011
By

When confronted with wrongdoing, people devoted to sinful behavior will sometimes express the thought, “I’m not afraid of the devil!” Ought to be! “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). It is dumb to say, “I’m not afraid...

SOMEONE MUST PAY

One good measure of a nation’s spirit – and its citizen’s sense of responsibility – is how many times you hear the phrase “it wasn’t my fault” or “someone else must pay.” This old Arab tale makes great reading for our times. One morning a well-known thief with a splint on his leg hobbled...
